Advanced Vector Text

by kim@pixelbit.com

Disclaimer,

The process is pretty straight forward and easy.

It is possible that there are other tutorials that cover the same material, although I have not seen them.

The screen shots and text are my own.

All of the images in this tutorial are copyrighted to me but the tools used and the process idea is copyrighted to Jasc.

There are no additional tools needed. This is an advanced Vector tutorial. I will assume that you know the vector basics.

Open an image much larger than you will actually need. I used 700 X 700 Transparent.

Use your text tool and add the text that you would like. The font and colors are your choice. Be sure that Vector is checked at the bottom.

Your text will be a little like this with the vector square around it.

Click Objects > Convert Text to Curves > As Single Shape

Use your Object Selector. Right click on your image and select Node Edit.

You will now be able to play with the nodes in your text. Stretch, resize, reshape, Have a ball.

Click on a different tool to see what your image will look like from time to time. If you want to edit more, click on the object selector again and edit more nodes.

My nodes looked like this when I was ready to continue. Keep in mind that I kept it simple, but you can be as complex as you like.

When you are done editing, right click on your vector layer and convert to raster.

You can now add any effect you like such as Inner Bevel.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me at:
