Vector text
Disclaimer.. This process is VERY easy therefore it is likely that there are other tutorials similar to this one, although I have not seen them myself.
All of the images in this tutorial are copyrighted to me, however the the effect is copyrighted to jasc only.
No additional tools needed.
Open a new image. make it REALLY big. I made mine 700 X 700. Transparent.
Use your text tool. the color and font is your choice. Be sure to have Vector checked.
Once you have your text in your image, Click Object, Convert Text to Curves > As Character Shapes
In your layer palette you will see that each letter is contained in a different selection. Click on the first letter.
A square will form around only around that letter.
Click on your object Selector
Grab any of the nodes (little squares) around your letter and move, bend, shape it to your liking. When you're done with the first letter, click on the next letter. Continue until you have all of the letters shaped that way you want them,.
When you are done reshaping your letters, Right click on your vector layer and convert it to a Raster layer.
Apply any effect such as Inner Bevel that you like.
This is what my Layer Palette looked like for my finished image.
