Open a new image, large, size doesn't matter, but make it big

Apply any text you like, fat fonts work best.

Crop your text. Cropping by hand rather than using the crop options is best here as you want to leave about 1/2 inch on all sides.

Rename this layer text.

Make a new layer. the default name is fine

Use your preset shapes tool. Set your tools options and your color palette as shown below.

Hold your shift key down as you make your ellipse to insure a perfect circle. Make a circle the size you would like your spotlight to be. With your mover tool, slide it to the upper left corner.

Copy and paste as a new layer. With your mover tool, slide the second layer slightly down and to the right of the first circle.

Continue this process until your circles make a worm like pattern across your text.

Your layer palette will look a little like this.

Turn all layers off except text and the top circle layer.

In red are the steps for each circle layer.

Select all (CTRL + A)

Float (CTRL + F)

Defloat (SHIFT + CTRL + F)

delete

Invert (SHIFT + CTRL + I)

Flood with a dark color (same color for all layers)

Turn off the top layer

turn on the layer under it.

repeat the red steps

Continue until you have processed each layer using the red steps.

The last circle layer will look like this.  Deselect.

Turn ON all layers.

Save in PSP format

Be sure that "Each frame shows first and current frame" is checked. click ok and open your image.

As soon as your image is open, press your delete key to delete the first frame.

You now have two identical animations. Your original is called Animation 1

The copy is called Animation 2, as shown below.

Working with Animation 2, click on the first frame. press your delete key. Repeat for the last frame.

Select all, reverse frames.

Once the frames are reversed, copy

Activate Animation 1, click on the last frame to select it, right click.

Paste > After Current Frame.

You may close Animation 2 without saving as you no longer need it.

Animation 1 is now the only image you have open on your screen.

Select all.

Right click. Select frame properties

The default number here is 10, change it to 30, click ok.

While all frames are still selected, right click again.
