Making Selection

by kim@pixelbit.com

The purpose of creating selections is so that you can have them available for others to use when you want them to create a specific image.

Please right click on the image below and save it. Bring it up in PSP.

Use your magic wand tool and click on the red square. Once the red square is selected, click Selections, save to disk.

Name your selection red_circle.sel. Place it in a folder that you will easily remember.

Do the same with the blue square.

Now again with the black star.

Open a new image 400 X 400 transparent. It must me this size as this is the size of the image that we made the selections from.

Click Selections > Load From Disk.

Select the one selection and color it the correct color.

now the next and finally the last. Layers > flatten.

You should now have 2 identical images on your screen.

OK what if we have an image like this one where using the magic wand is not possible?

In this case we will have to use the lasso tool set to point to point and work our way around the star until it's selected

Selections > Save To Disk and name it blue-star.sel

Open a new image 400 X 400 and click Selections > Load From Disk and select your blue_star.sel.

Now you will have your selection again.

You can color it any way you'd like.

If you made a zip file and included these 4 selections, uploaded them to your site, they would be available for others to use to create the same image.

Have fun.
