Animated scrolling text
All of the text and images on this tutorial are copyrighted. Please don't steal it. Needed tool. psp 7, 8 or 9 Eye candy 4000 Open a new transparent image 500 X 500
Select the top third of the image and fill with the gradient of your choice. Hint...it looks better of the gradient is darker on top and lighter on the bottom.
Select all and click on the filled portion of your image. copy, CTRL + E to paste, CTRL + I to flip. Place your copy so that there is a small opening between the top and the bottom.
Use your copy tool to crop off the transparent area at the bottom.
If your image is not contained on one single layer, merge visible. Duplicate your layer at least 4 time. hint....I would duplicate more as you can delete the un needed layers later.
Open a new image 500 X 500 with a white background.
On this image add your text, any color or font and effect you like. You can have as many words as you like. I am adding them one word at a time but you can throw them all on there at the same time if you like. Try to keep the text as close to the center as possible.
Copy your text image and paste it as a new layer to your gradient image. Use your mover tool to slide it up so that the text is above the transparent area in your gradient image.
Duplicate this layer. Use your deformation tool. hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys down and press your DOWN arrow TWO times. Duplicate that layer and repeat the deformation. Continue this until you have the text below the transparent area of the gradient image. You should have between 5 and 8 text layers now. In your layer palette, arrange the layers so that there is one gradient layer ABOVE each text layer. Click on each gradient layer and merge down.
If you have too many gradient layers, now is the time to delete them. Activate the top layer. use your selection tool set to rectangle and select the white center part of the image. Apply Eye candy 4000 glass with the following settings. You are free to choose any settings you like. I did some poking around and these are the settings that I found worked best.
DO NOT DESELECT With the selection in place go through each layer and apply the same glass effect. Deselect Save your image as 1.psp. HINT if you are using psp 8 or 9, in the save window, click on options and save as 7 compatible or your images won't open in animation shop. Following all of the steps above, create the next image with the second word of your text. Save this image as 2.psp. If you have a third word, make your image and save as 3.psp. Once your images are saved, you may close them and open animation shop. Click File > Preferences > General Program preferences > Layered files. Make sure that all layers are on a separate frame and click ok. Open all of the images that you made in PSP. Select 2.psp. select all (CTRL + A) and copy (CTRL + C) Activate 1.psp. click on the LAST frame. Right click and select paste > after current. if you have a third word, open 3.psp, select all and copy. activate the image that you just pasted to a moment ago, select the LAST frame. Paste after current. When you have all of your words contained on the same image, select all, right click and select frame properties, change the speed to 30. This image may be too big for you. If it is, you can crop it. Because of the size of the animations below, it didn't appear correctly on one single page. click on one to see the animation separately.
