In this tutorial, we'll be making a flower, but once you learn the steps involved, you can make any shape you like.

Open an image 500 X 500 transparent

Activate your preset shapes tool and select the ellipse shape. Have your stoke set to black and fill to the color of your choice. Line width set to 1 or 2. Make sure that Create as vector is CHECKED.

Draw your ellipse in the center of your image.

Change your preset shape to Tear Drop, The rest of the settings remain the same.

Draw a tear drop in your image, Rotate and move it into position for your first petal.

In your layer palette, expand your vector layer, right click on the layer called tear drop and select copy from the drop down menu.

Right click again on the same layer and select Paste New Vector Selection.

Click on your image, You will have a new petal. Rotate and move into position.

In your layer palette, you will see that you have TWO tear drop layers. The top layer is already active. Right click on the top layer and paste another petal.

Continue pasting petals until you have all the petals you need.

You'll see that the last petal overlaps the first petal.

Paste one more petal, rotate it and place it directly over the FIRST petal.

In your layer palette, move the top Tear drop layer to the position shown below.

While you are in your layer palette, grab the Ellipse layer and move it to the top. This will place the center of the flower where it needs to be.

Hold the SHIFT key down and click on each layer one at a time. As you click on them, you will notice two things.

1. The previous layers stay selected

2. The selection on your image changes to include the layer that you just selected.

Release the shift key, Right click and select Group from the drop down menu.

The group will have a default name like Group 2. Change the name of the group to something that you like as the name of the GROUP is what will be displayed in your preset shapes.

CTRL + D to be sure that nothing is selected

File > Export > Shape

Give your shape a name

VOILA!

You now have your own preset shape that you made all by your self.
