Making the Floor

Open a new image 800 X 800, transparent

Use your Preset Shapes tool and select Hexagon.

Use deformation and grab the node shown below and pull down to make it appear to be flatter (like closer to laying on the ground than standing upright).

Use your lasso tool set to point to point to select a triangle that goes from one corner, to the next and to the center.

Flood with a wood pattern of your choice but adjust the angle so the the lines are parallel with the edge of the floor

With each new selection, you will need to change the angle of the pattern. It helps if you put the pattern window right next to the selection to be filled. You will be able to "eyeball" the angle better.

Select the next section making sure that the selections overlap just a tad to prevent the white from showing through.

Continue this process until the floor is covered.
