All of the text and images in this tutorial are copyrighted. have a peek at the link below to learn more about what copyright means.
Open a new image 300 X 300 with a BLACK background.
Adjust your color palette so that either the foreground or background is white, the other black. The arrows pointed out in the image below will allow you to switch your foreground and background.
Note. When you add a border, the color of the border will be your BACKGROUND color.
Please be sure that your background is WHITE Click Image > Add Border.
Be sure that Symmetric is checked. Set the top number to 2, the others will change automatically.
Repeat with a BLACK background Repeat with a WHITE background Repeat with a BLACK background Repeat with a WHITE background BUT. change the border size to 20. ok here is a summery of what we have done so far. white, black, white, black (so far the borders set to 2) then white set to 20.
In your layer palette, promote to layer.
Use your Magic wand tool to select the black middle section and delete it.
OK now lets save your frame template Click File > Save As or simply press your F12 button on your keyboard.
Your frame MUST be in the frames folder in PSP. Notice that all of the files there end with .pfr. name your image template.pfr. You will have to actually erase the psp and type in pfr.
OK lets put your new frame to work for you.. Open an image that you would like to frame. I will be using a picture of my daughter...isn't she cute?.
Select your template.
Be sure that you select Frame OUTSIDE of the image.
If you like you can add the frame again.
In your layer palette, you will have a layer for each frame. Merge visible layers.
Use your magic Wand tool and select the small white areas. HINT if you hold your shift key down, you can select more than one area.
I used > Effects > Texture Effects > Sculpture > Gold Preset Deselect.
Use dropper tool and select a dark color in your image. Use your magic wand and select the small black borders. Fill with your dark color and bevel. I used the Pillow preset with ambience raised to 60. Deselect.
Use your dropper tool and select a light color in your image. Use your magic wand and select the LARGE white borders. Fill with your light color, bevel and deselect.
You may want to fancy it up more by adding some corners. To do this, make a new layer. I used a white custom paint brush to make one corner. Duplicate > Mirror Turn OFF the bottom , merge visible, Duplicate > Flip Merge visible again Apply the same sculpture effect. Turn the bottom layer back on and merge visible. You're DONE Great gob!
