Barber Pole

Open a new transparent image 200 X 200.

Make your pen tool active, use the settings shown below.

Set your color palette as such:
Foreground=Red
Background=White
 


Near the top of the image, draw a straight red line.
Near the bottom, draw a straight white line.
Use your selection tool, set to rectangle,
Select the white line and move it up so it touches the red line.
Deselect.
With selection tool still active, select a portion of the image, as shown below,
making sure not to select any of the transparent area.


Make a new image 119 X 281.


Make your fill tool active, select your 200 X 200 image as the fill pattern.
Set the angle to 45. Scale set to 145.


Fill your image.
Apply Cylinder - Vertical, strength=50.
 

In your layer palette, duplicate your layer.


Make your mover tool active, Click on your image.
Press the DOWN key until the top layer is moved down
far enough so that red line on the top layer occupies HALF of the white layer on the bottom.
Duplicate the top layer and repeat. example shown below.


Use your crop tool and select only the area that the top layer occupies and a "ginch" off of the sides..


In your layer palette, select the top layer.
Select all and float. Apply Cutout with the settings shown below.
Deselect and repeat for the remaining two layers.


Save in psp format and close.
Open Animation shop.
File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Layered Files
Use the settings shown below and click ok. Open your image.


You should have three frames in your image.

Open a new image 500 X 500 transparent. Duplicate twice for a total of 3 frames.


Make your barber pole active. Select all and copy.
Make the transparent image active, select all and paste (CTRL + E).
place the barber pole in the center.

Return to Paint Shop Pro. Make a new transparent image, any size.
Use your selection tool set to triangle.
Make a selection the size your would like the ends of the barber pole.
Apply whatever effect you would like.
When done, select all, float, defloat and copy.

Return to animation shop and paste as a new image (CTRL + V)


Duplicate twice for a total of three frames. Select all and copy.

Make your barber pole active, select all and paste (CTRL + E)
and place the triangle on the top of the pole.


Make the triangle image active. Select all. Flip (CTRL + I). Copy


Make the barber pole active, select all and paste to the bottom of the pole.


Double click on your crop tool to open the crop properties window.
Click Surround Opaque, click ok
On the toolbar, click crop.


Select all, press ALT + ENTER and change the speed to 40.

That's it. You're done.
