Here is a small version what we'll be making
Open a new image 400 X 400 Transparent
Make a new layer and flood with your Metallic gradient.
Use your selection tool set to circle
Put your mouse at the 200, 200 coordinate.
Select a circle about this size. Make sure that you don't get too close to the edges.
Save to Alpha channel.
Click Selections > Invert
Apply Inner Bevel with the round preset. I believe that this preset comes with PSP 7, but if you don't have it, the settings are below.
Invert again
Make a new layer
Click Selections > Modify > Expand
Set the number of pixels to 30
