Adding a background to a transparent animation
All of the images and text in this tutorial are copyrighted. If you would like to share of teach, a text link is fine. Please click on the link below to learn more about what "copyright" means. To print this tutorial, click the print button on your browser. Open Animation Shop and open the animation that you would like to add a background to.
Press CTRL + A to select all. Click File > Export > to Paint Shop Pro.
In Pain shop Pro, you will have a layered image. The layer palette will look like this.
Add a new layer called background. (it can actually be called anything you like but I used background so I wouldn't get the layers mixed up.) Fill the background layer with any color, pattern, gradient that you like. Move the background layer to the bottom.
Save your image. The default name for this image will be c:.psp.
Change it to a different name but retain the psp extension. Close the image after you have saved it. This is important.
Back in Animation shop, Close the image that you have open there. Click File > Preferences > General Program Preferences.
Click on the Layered Files tab and check the option shown below. Click OK
You will now have the background in each frame. Depending on the animation, you may or may not want to delete the first frame.
Press CTRL + A to select all. Right click on your animation and select Frame Properties from the drop down menu. This is the number that sets the speed of your animation. The higher the number the slower your animation will be. Set this number to one that works well with your animation.
